Cambridge Online Experience Conference

Cambridge Online Experience Conference

========================================================================================================

Webex https://www.webex.com/

Language Learning with Video:

When YouTube Doesn't Deliver

  Laura Sigsworth

Have you spent countless hours trawling YouTube to come up empty? The challenge is finding videos with appropriate language level and content that meets your students’ needs. This session will show how Cambridge evaluates English language teaching and learning needs, then creates authentic videos that support curriculum. It will also suggest ways in which learner generated content can bring added value to the language classroom.

Learning step-by-step towards a

Cambridge English Qualification for life

  Simona Petrescu

Our mission at Cambridge Assessment English is to “support every learner, every step of the way”. But what exactly does that mean? We are going to demonstrate how the Cambridge English Qualifications guide learners’ progress, by actualising an all-skill, in-depth learning goal to achieve each CEFR level. Secondly, it is the feedback on learning being integrated in the design of the Cambridge English exams that defines our step-by-step approach. To see this, we are going to follow task formats that are present at different levels, making progress more transparent and palpable to teachers, learners and parents. Such a cross-level view of exam formats may strengthen teachers’ awareness of how learning tasks can be adjusted to be more, or less, demanding, in order to support their students’ learning.

Listening is Fun

  John McNeill

Listening is undoubtedly one the most effective ways of learning a language and, of course, one of the most challenging skills to master when learning English. For young learners in particular, listening is surely a great way of effortlessly gaining pronunciation and intonation skills as well as familiarizing with natural language structures. If this sounds complicated at all, come and discover with us new and easy ways to deliver playful and collaborative listening activities for primary learners!

Exam Preparation in the real world

  Anne Robinson

Do you teach an exam class? It’s not that easy, is it? Even though students are preparing for the same exam, they aren’t at the same level. Although there is a clear goal, they aren’t all equally motivated. They are in an exam class, yet they also want (and need) to learn to use their English in situations beyond the confines of the classroom. This practical session explores the challenges of preparing students for exams and offers strategies and tools to help.
